A voice tells a story about a journey through a nocturnal landscape. A face lights up, its sharp contours stand out against the glow of a phone's display. A star forms in the background. On the edges of a car rim, the inscription reads in a clockwise direction: “I will always love you.”

During the day, a specific spot in the eye, called the “yellow spot,” helps us see fine details. In the dark, this spot gets too little light, and our vision becomes blurry. But if we direct our gaze just next to the object, the light is then directed to the area next to the yellow spot, allowing us to see clearly. Observing a star in the night sky works best when we look just beside it.

In her new work TC, Samantha Bohatsch refers to phenomena that become visible with a delay and are location-bound. TC is about speed, fear, departure, explosions, hope, and astronomical events. The work consists of an intervention, a sound piece, and a video, and was presented simultaneously on the website of the Galerie Bernau, on the artist’s SoundCloud account, and on the Instagram channel of the online magazine Passe-Avant. TC stands for "Take Care" and is the third and final part of a series of sound works (IMR and SWM) presented by Samantha Bohatsch in 2020.

Eine Stimme erzählt eine Geschichte über eine Reise in eine nächtliche Landschaft. Ein Gesicht leuchtet auf, ihre scharfen Konturen heben sich ab, durch das Licht des Handydisplays. Ein Stern bildet sich im Hintergrund. Auf den Kanten einer Auto-Felge liest sich im Uhrzeigersinn die Aufschrift: “I will always love you” (engl. = Ich werde dich immer lieben).

Tagsüber sorgt eine bestimmte Stelle im Auge, genannt der “Gelbe Fleck”, dafür, dass wir feine Details sehen können. Im Dunkel bekommt die Stelle zu wenig Licht und unsere Sicht wird unscharf. Aber richten wir den Blick genau neben das Objekt, und wird das Licht so zu einer Stelle neben dem Gelben Fleck gelenkt, können wir scharf sehen. Nachts ein Stern am Himmel zu beobachten, glückt am besten, wenn wir genau daneben schauen.

Samantha Bohatsch verweist in ihrer neuen Arbeit TC auf Phänomene, die sich zeitversetzt und ortsgebunden sichtbar machen. TC handelt von Geschwindigkeit, Angst, Aufbruch, Explosionen, Hoffnung und astronomische Ereignisse. Das Werk besteht aus einer Intervention, einer Sound- und einer Videoarbeit und wurde parallel auf die Website der Galerie Bernau, auf dem SoundCloud-Account der Künstlerin und auf dem Instagram-Kanal des Online-Magazins Passe-Avant präsentiert. TC bedeutet Take Care und ist der dritte und letzte Teil einer Reihe von Soundarbeiten (IMR und SWM), die Samantha Bohatsch im Jahr 2020 präsentiert.
